HUMANEmontclair has
teamed up with the Human Needs Food Pantry to collect
donations of cat and dog food to help those in need to
provide for their companion animals.
All donations will go directly to
the Human Needs Food Pantry where they will be distributed
on a weekly basis to clients who have companion animals.
The bond between animals and humans
is strong and, especially for those who live alone, the
presence of a companion animal can make life so much
more enjoyable.
Please help out when you can.

The
Story of the Human Needs Food Pantry
Since 1980, the Human Needs Food Pantry, located at 9 Label Street in Montclair,
has been helping feed the poor of Montclair and other towns around Essex County.
The Pantry is a private nonprofit, but it was begun as an outreach program by
a small group of concerned women from the First Baptist Church of Montclair.
The program, which focuses on towns without food pantries, has steadily grown
in size and impact and now serves approximately 2,200 individuals per
month from seven towns. The Pantry relies on donations of cash
and dry goods from the public and buys the bulk of its food from the Community
Food Bank in Hillside. A number of local businesses donate food, and local churches,
synagogues, schools, sports teams and other civic groups also donate on a regular
basis.
The Human Needs Food Pantry is committed to helping those in need by providing
them not only with enough to eat, but also by providing proper nutrition. The
fastest growing number of clients are the elderly and disabled who are trying
to live on fixed incomes. Services are based on Federal guidelines for poverty.
Eligible individuals and families come to the Pantry once a week and receive
groceries, while deliveries are made to those who are homebound or disabled.
The Pantry also has a “clothes closet” where clients can pick up
clothing, shoes, and even housewares. |
